When Discomfort Keeps You From What You Love
There's a special frustration that comes when the activities that bring you joy—gardening, hiking, playing with your kids—start causing pain or feel out of reach. That stiffness in your hip that cuts your walk short, or the ache in your hands that makes pulling weeds miserable, is a signal, not a life sentence.
For Pain That Others Have Ignored or Misunderstood
The most isolating pain is the kind that persists without a clear cause, leaving you feeling dismissed or unheard. If you've been told tests are "normal," to "just rest," or that it's "all in your head," I want you to know: your experience is real, valid, and deserves a thoughtful investigation.

My Modalities:
Myofascial Release
For stiffness, limited mobility, or that “tight rubber band” feeling.
I’ll gently unwind stuck connective tissue, helping you bend to tie your shoes without grunting or stand taller after hours at a desk.Neuromuscular Facilitation
For weakness, instability, or post-injury recovery.
I’ll retrain your muscles and nerves to work smoothly so you can climb stairs without knee buckling and regain confidence in your body’s strength.Trigger Point Therapy
For sharp, nagging aches like that knot under your shoulder blade.
I’ll pinpoint and release overactive muscles causing referred pain so you can lift grocery bags without shoulder stabbing and turn your head fully while driving.Breathwork
For calming an overactive nervous system, enhancing mind-body awareness, and improving the outcomes of hands-on treatment.
I’ll teach you conscious breathing patterns that can reduce the "fight-or-flight" tension that locks pain into place. This creates a more receptive mental state, turning each treatment into a full mind-body reset

Nellie Grant, LMT
I am a dedicated massage therapist who believes in the power of focused, collaborative bodywork to create meaningful change. I built a strong foundation in evidence-informed, therapeutic techniques at the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy.
As a professional member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals (ABMP), I am committed to the highest standards of practice and continuing education. My goal is to apply this knowledge with precision and empathy, helping each client move toward their specific goals.
I look forward to the possibility of working together.
When I was 10 years old, I’d sit on the floor after dinner and rub my grandmother’s aching feet. She’d spent decades working double shifts at the local gas station—her shoulders hunched from restocking shelves, her hands stiff from holding gas pumps. I didn’t know it then, but those quiet evenings ignited something in me: the power of touch to transform pain into relief, exhaustion into ease.Fast-forward to my late 20s: I woke one night gasping, ribs searing like fire. Doctors dismissed me—“You’re young, just rest”—but rest didn’t fix the agony that stole my sleep, my breath, my life for five years. I felt invisible. Then I met a clinical bodyworker who listened. Who said, “Your pain is real. Let’s fix this.” Together, we turned my 20/10 pain into a 2/10.
I got my body and my future back. That’s why I became a clinical bodyworker. At the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy, I trained in techniques that actually work for chronic pain and stubborn injuries. I led study groups, worked extra hours in the student clinic, and sought mentorship from expertly skilled practitioners —because I’m obsessed with finding pathways for people like us.Today, my practice is built on two truths I learned the hard way:
Pain is not “all in your head.”
Relief isn’t one-size-fits-all.
I create strategic, goal-oriented sessions to:
Melt muscle tension so you can breathe freely and move without wincing.
Restore range of motion so you can lift groceries, hug your kids, and garden again.
Give you tools like stretches, ergonomic tweaks to stay resilient between sessions.
Most importantly? I listen. Your pain is your story. I’m here to help rewrite it.

There are many available parking spots around the 3 Ferry Street building. I recommend parking in the lot facing the Rear (Main) entrance.
Map is on Contact Page
Am I required to tip?
The full cost of my service is all I ask for. I do not accept tips or gifts, but I always appreciate when clients leave a Google Review or refer a friend to my services.
Do you offer sliding-scale?
No, but I offer chair massage at The Backstop in Thornes Marketplace as a more accessible way to receive my services. You can book here for 20-60$.
What is your cancellation policy?
Clients can cancel/rebook their appointment up to 12 hours before their scheduled time. Cancellations after that window and no shows forfeit the appointment. Emergencies happen, so if that is the case — please reach out via the Contact Page as soon as you can.
What happens if I’m late?
If you’re 15 minutes late, come in ready to make the rest of the session count! Beyond that window is considered a no show and subject to the cancellation policy.
Will my massage hurt?
This depends on your experience of and sensitivity to pain. Techniques used can cause discomfort and yes, sometimes pain. If you cannot breathe while I am massaging you, we are no longer doing effective work. Please speak up if you ever need me to change techniques or location.
How soon will I feel better?
Some clients experience profound release of tension after one session. For others, the path may be focused on pain management and we'll build a roadmap together. No empty promises —just honest teamwork.
What happens if I'm sick? What happens if you're sick?
In the case of illness, do not come in. Contact me as soon as possible and we will work out a time to reschedule. If you come in with a runny nose, cough, fever, sore throat, etc. you will be turned away with no refund. If I am ill, I will contact you to reschedule our appointment ASAP.
Do you require masking?
Masking is encouraged. I have them available for anyone who may want or need one. Long-covid prevents me from mask-wearing for extending periods of time or during demanding physical activity but I am always willing to put one on if a client requests it.
Will I have to completely undress?
Absolutely not! Many of my modalities adapt well to fully or partially clothed sessions. If you'd like to stay clothed, please inform me via your intake form.
Is your space wheelchair accessible?
Yes, there are multiple accessible parking spots next to the Rear (Main Entrance) in the Ferry Street lot. Due to the structure of the building, I will need to meet you in the lobby and use a key fob to get to my floor. I am unable to move clients onto or off of the treatment table. Please feel free to bring someone to support you, there is a beautiful lounge area if they’d like to stay for the duration of your treatment. There are two accessible, gender-neutral bathrooms within 50 ft of the treatment space.
Are you a competent practitioner for bigger-bodied clients?
Yes — I ascribe to the health-at-every-size framework and fat is simply a type of tissue that requires consideration during sessions. The techniques I use tend to be intense for larger clients whose skin is often more sensitive. I utilize bolsters, side-lying positions, and slower stokes to make sessions more comfortable and effective. Every body is different so please let me know if there is anything I can do to support you further. Treatment table details are on the Contact Page.
Are you a competent practioner for Hyper-mobile clients?
Yes. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach given the diversity of hyper-mobility and the chronic pain associated. Please provide as much information as you want/can about your specific needs during session. If you aren't sure what you need, we can work gently together and support you in learning your bodys capacity and limitations.
Are you a competent practitioner for LGBTQ+ clients?
Yes, many of my regulars are Queer. I am able to support clients with pre and post-surgery care. The needs of our community are diverse so please provide detailed information on how I can best support you on the intake form. Additionally, there are two accessible, gender-neutral bathrooms within 50 feet of the treatment space.
How can I gift someone a Cloudbelly Bodywork Session?
You can purchase gift cards directly through the Gift Card Page and the recipient may use it when the book with me online.
Can my company/group/org hire you for events?
Absolutely! Go to my Events Page and inquire about hiring Cloudbelly Bodywork for your next market, wellness day, community festival, and more.
